Furniture Profiles: Choosing Handles, Tracks and Edges
Furniture profiles are aluminium products that serve different functions, from door grip to sliding movement, from shelf edging to hanging arrangements. Being in the same category does not mean they are directly compatible with one another. The choice should be made from the dimensions of the furniture and the mechanism the profile will work with.

Choose a furniture profile together with the panel and the mechanism, not as a single part.
Separate handle, track and edging profiles
A handle section gives the user a grip area; a track section is part of a sliding system. A U capping profile finishes the edge of a panel. A shelf or worktop front model may deal with a different joint. Separating these tasks prevents the wrong product being chosen on appearance alone.
A kitchen, a wardrobe, an office cabinet and a shop display unit may not give rise to the same profile requirement. Conditions such as wet cleaning, frequent use or a different panel thickness affect the decision on section and surface finish. A sample gives a more accurate idea when it is examined together with a piece of the panel.
Grip clearance when choosing a handle
The Y Handle Profile is one of the options that can be assessed together with the door design. In the Apaçi and Ç handle models the way the section sits on the door may differ. The clearance that fingers can reach comfortably matters as much as the length of the profile. The nearby worktop and the movement of other doors and drawers are checked.
The part of the profile that grips the panel must match the actual thickness. The panel facing, the edge banding or a routed detail is taken into account. For the handle line to look continuous on the same piece of furniture, the door gaps and the cut lengths are planned together.
Quick selection by need
| Need / criterion | Option to consider | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Door grip | Handle profile | Finger clearance and seating on the panel |
| Sliding door | Bottom / top track | Mechanism, load and system compatibility |
| Exposed panel edge | U capping | Actual panel thickness |
| Wardrobe interior layout | Hanging rail / trouser rack | Span, fixing and load-bearing arrangement |
Top and bottom tracks are chosen as one system
When choosing a Bottom Track Profile, measuring only the track width is not enough. The top track, the roller or runner mechanism and the door construction must be compatible with one another. Because the part that carries the load can vary from system to system, sections that look similar are not combined at random.
The door height, the amount of overlap and the allowance for removal and refitting are set by the requirements of the mechanism. Load capacity cannot be calculated from the fact that the profile is aluminium. For a heavy door, the total load, the fixings and the moving parts are assessed technically.

Edge finishing and wardrobe interior parts
The U Capping Profile is examined together with its slot size at an exposed panel edge. With shelf and worktop front sections, the direction the visible face will point matters. For wardrobe interior items such as a hanging rail tube and a trouser rack, the span length, the supports and the fixing parts are assessed separately.
The ends and corners visible after cutting should be finished cleanly. Fixing holes are planned so that they do not weaken the panel, and fixings so that they do not obstruct moving parts. For a quotation, share the panel thickness, the part lengths, the door or shelf function and the mechanism details. An assembly section tells more than a list that gives only the product name.

Frequently asked questions
Can the top and bottom tracks be chosen from different ranges?
They should not be paired unless compatibility has been confirmed technically. The track geometry and the moving parts form a system that works together.
Can U capping be used on any panel?
The panel thickness and edge construction must suit the slot of the profile. A facing or edge banding can change the dimension.
How do you find out the load capacity of a hanging rail profile?
The section, the span, the spacing of the supports and the fixing method are assessed together. A reliable capacity cannot be derived from the product name or the material alone.
