Stainless Steel Glass Profile: Glass-to-Tile Junction
The tile internal corner glass profile in the stainless steel glass frame profiles category is a section intended for the junction between a glass panel and a tiled covering. It combines a U-shaped channel for the edge of the glass and a fixing part that extends beneath the covering in the same body. Selection requires the glass and tile detail to be resolved together.

When choosing a glass profile, resolve the channel size, the bedding and the fixing arrangement of the panel together.
At which junction is this profile used?
The edge where shower glass approaches a tiled surface, or the detail where a glass partition meets the covering, can be considered. The metal line tidies the boundary between two different materials. However, this section should not be thought of as a general-purpose window frame or as an independent load-bearing system for glass panels of any size.
Stainless Steel Tile Internal Corner Glass Profile is listed in the catalogue with a U-shaped glass channel and a bottom fixing part. The arrangement for supporting and fixing the glass is determined separately on the basis of the panel dimensions and the conditions of use. The external appearance of the profile does not describe the whole of this technical arrangement.
Glass thickness and channel opening
Knowing the nominal thickness of the glass is the first step. An allowance is also needed for the bedding or fixing components to be used inside the channel. The junction between glass and metal must be resolved with the suitable intermediate components that the system requires. Forcing the glass into a narrow channel does not produce a compatible detail.
The external width of the U channel is not the same as the clear opening the glass will enter. The wall thicknesses of the section and the type of fixing change the usable space. Before ordering, the glass type, its thickness, the edge finish and the system connections must be assessed together. Dimensions must not be estimated from a photograph.
Quick selection by need
| Need / criterion | Option to review | Check point |
|---|---|---|
| Glass information | Thickness and panel size | Channel and support arrangement |
| Profile section | Clear U channel opening | Bedding and fixing allowance |
| Covering detail | Under-tile part | Axis and sequence of work |
| Wet area | Waterproofing / sealing | Continuity of the layers |
Sequence of work with the tiling
How the bottom fixing part will be positioned within the covering is planned before the tiles are laid. The glass axis, the wall or floor axis and the line of the profile are shown on the drawing. If the glass is to be fitted later, the installation tolerances and the fitting sequence are determined from the outset.
The finished surfaces of the tile and the profile are trial-fitted together. Fixing the profile does not mean that it automatically carries all the loads of the glass. The other fixings and supports required are resolved according to the installation design. As the glass height increases, the decision must not be made by looking at the channel width alone.

Completing the junction in a wet area
In a shower, the waterproofing beneath the covering and the sealing around the glass work in different layers. The continuation of these layers and their compatibility with each other must be planned separately. Using a stainless steel profile does not on its own make the whole junction watertight.
Review the section of the product together with the glass installation detail and the tile layout. For a quotation, share the glass thickness, the panel dimensions, the edge length, the tile section and the wet area conditions. The steel grade, surface finish and cleaning requirement are stated separately where needed. In the final check, the position of the glass, the suitability of the fixings and the continuity of the junction line are assessed together.

Frequently asked questions
Does the profile carry the shower glass on its own?
Such a capacity must not be assumed. The fixing system is determined technically on the basis of the glass size, the loads and the other fixings required.
Should the channel width equal the glass thickness?
The allowances needed for the bedding and fixing components are also taken into account. The clear opening must be chosen according to the requirement of the system.
Can this product be used as a window frame?
The model in the catalogue is intended for the glass-to-tile junction. Suitability for a different load-bearing or window system function must be verified separately.
