What Is a Pendant LED Profile? Choosing a Decorative Body
Pendant LED profiles are aluminium sections that carry the light source in decorative lighting designs and also form the visible body. In a pendant, a linear chandelier or a custom composition, the shape of the body and the direction of the light are chosen together. Buying a profile does not mean buying a finished, ready-to-use pendant light.
Choose the pendant profile together with the suspension system and the electrical layout.
The role of the profile in pendant design
When the light is off, the shape, colour and joints of the profile are visible. When the light is on, the cover surface and the direction of the light are added to this. For this reason it is not enough to look only at the line on the ceiling plan; how the product will be perceived from the side and from below should also be considered.
For a pendant above a dining table, the viewing angle of the seated person matters; for lighting above a counter, the work surface matters. The same section can give a different lighting effect when mounted in different orientations. To assess bright surfaces that shine directly into the eye, a sample should be prepared at the actual height where possible.
How are oval and dual-channel sections chosen?
The 8X17 Pendant LED Profile can be considered as a compact body option. The 12X7 Oval Pendant LED Profile offers a different outer form. The numbers in the model names cannot be used in place of the internal LED seat dimensions; the actual section must be checked for the strip and the cover.
The 12X38 Dual-Channel Pendant LED Profile contains two LED channels that open in different directions. The lighting task, cover compatibility and electrical connection of each channel are planned separately. Having two channels does not mean that it provides independent control by itself; this function depends on the driver and control arrangement.

The connections need designing as much as the body
In a custom pendant, the profile length, the corner or end joints and the suspension points form a whole. The centre of gravity and the position of the load-bearing connections are taken into account. The strength of the components that will join two cut pieces cannot be inferred from the outer appearance alone. The suspension and ceiling fixing are resolved according to the overall structure of the luminaire.
At passages that conceal the cable, sharp edges and the risk of pinching are checked. A connector fitted inside the profile must not obstruct the LED seat or the cover lock. The driver position, maintenance access and cable route should be determined before the body is produced.
Which details are checked on the sample?
First, the visible joints are checked for gaps and misalignment. Then it is checked whether the covers seat fully, whether the LED dots are visible and whether the light surface is uncomfortable from the viewing angle. In a two-directional design the light surfaces are assessed separately; light directed at the ceiling and light directed at the table do not have the same task.
In a quotation request, instead of giving only the total metres, share the drawing of the pendant, the piece lengths, the suspension points and the LED to be used in each channel. Add the chosen cover, the surface colour and the end finishes to the list. In this way the profile selection does not conflict with mechanical and electrical details that would otherwise have to be resolved later.

Can a pendant profile be bent into a ring?
Not every section should be assumed to be bendable. The section geometry, the bending direction and the target radius must be verified from a production standpoint.
Does a dual-channel profile give two colours of light?
Different lighting scenes can be designed with different LED and control components. The profile having two channels does not provide this function on its own.
Can the driver be concealed inside the profile?
The usable internal space, the temperature conditions and the access must be suitable for this. The decision is not made automatically from the size of the decorative body.
