Choosing an LED profile cover and diffuser
An LED profile cover forms the surface the light passes through and affects how the LED strip looks. Also searched for as an LED diffuser cover, this part has to be matched with the aluminium profile section it suits. Using a frosted white cover does not in itself guarantee dot-free light; the LED spacing, the profile depth and the distance between the cover and the LED determine the appearance together.

Flexible LED profile cover
The flexible LED profile cover is considered, subject to a fit check, for the corresponding flexible profile and for curved light line applications. The bending direction, the shape of the curve and whether the edges stay in the seat should be examined together. A flexible cover does not make a rigid profile body flexible.

Polycarbonate LED profile cover
The polycarbonate LED profile cover completes the light opening of the channel that matches its section. The visible width of the cover is compared with the seat dimension its edges engage in. The cover connections of different profiles with the same nominal width may not be identical.
Verify that the cover and the profile match

Seat geometry
Compare the cover channel of the profile with the edge shape of the cover. The width dimension alone is not enough to show that the connection seats correctly.

Width and length
Determine the light opening, the seating allowance of the cover and the length to be cut. Use the nominal size shown in the options together with the section data of the product concerned.

Straight or curved line
For a curved LED cover application, try out the direction of the flexible model and how it follows the curve. A straight profile and a flexible profile may require a different arrangement.

Light appearance
For applications that call for an opaque LED profile cover, assess the frosted white surface together with the LED spacing. Check the visibility of the dots and the light distribution on a short sample.
Using a diffuser on an LED strip channel
An LED strip diffuser is used to complete the visible light surface on a compatible aluminium channel. The cover required for a light line in furniture, on a ceiling or in a decorative setting depends on the profile section it will be fitted to. When comparing the flexible and polycarbonate options, the connection to the body and the need to remove the cover during maintenance are assessed as much as the place of use.
Cutting and fitting the cover
The cover length is determined by the edge and end details of the profile. Cut edges are finished cleanly; the cover is placed in its seat without damaging its edges. The seating and the joints are checked along the line. In a curved application the cover and the profile have to follow the same curve, and access for maintenance has to be kept.
