Ceiling Corner LED Profiles: How to Plan Concealed Lighting
Ceiling corner LED profiles turn the line between wall and ceiling into part of the lighting design. Depending on the section, the light is directed at the ceiling, at the wall or through a specific opening. The aim is not only to hide the LED; it is also to control how the light spreads across the surface and how it looks from different points in the room.

Assess concealed lighting from the real viewing angles in the room and together with the surface it will reflect off.
What effect does indirect lighting create?
With indirect lighting, the light first reaches a surface and is then reflected into the room. The colour of the wall, the texture of the ceiling and the position of the profile therefore affect the result noticeably. A dark or rough surface does not give the same lighting effect as a light, smooth one. Choosing the profile position only by the space available in the ceiling may not be enough.
A soft border of light around a living room, a line that completes the area around the bed in a hotel room or a layout that highlights the ceiling in an office can all be prepared. Even so, it should not be assumed that decorative perimeter lighting will provide enough light for a work area. General and task lighting are considered together.
Corner, cornice and curtain pelmet models
The Ceiling Corner LED Profile can be considered for the wall-to-ceiling junction. The Cornice LED Profile offers a different ceiling finishing geometry. In a project where the curtain line is part of the design, the LED Curtain Pelmet Profile is the one to consider. The direction of the LED opening and the visible metal surface are not the same on these products.
With concealed corner and indirect trimless options, the relationship between the board, the plaster and the light outlet should be examined separately. The same screw, clip or plaster detail does not apply to every product. Using the actual section of the product in the installation drawings helps prepare the required recess in the ceiling correctly.
Quick selection by requirement
| Requirement / criterion | Option to consider | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Wall-to-ceiling line | Ceiling corner model | Direction of light output |
| Decorative ceiling finish | Cornice model | Visible section and surface allowance |
| Line of light in front of the curtain | Curtain pelmet model | Track, curtain stack and access |
| Concealed surface detail | Indirect / concealed corner | Board and plaster junction |
From which angles is the light source visible?
A line that is hidden when viewed standing up is not necessarily hidden when you are sitting on a sofa or approaching from a staircase. Check the viewing angle from the points where the room is actually used. Ceiling height and the light opening should be considered together in this assessment.
In a curtain pelmet installation, the space the curtain takes up when gathered, the position of the track and maintenance access are important. The LED strip or cover must not come into contact with the movement of the curtain. Whether a dark area forms in the light at corner returns is assessed with a short sample. Deciding only on the daytime appearance can overlook differences in brightness that appear in the evening.

What should you measure before installation?
Mark the uninterrupted run lengths, the internal and external corners, the end points and the electrical feed positions separately. Leave an accessible space for the driver. Do not treat the space visible inside the section as a suitable place for every electrical component; size and operating temperature are assessed separately.
When installation is complete, check the alignment of the profile, the seating of the cover and any unevenness on the reflecting surface. When light travels close to a surface, small plaster defects can become more noticeable. Surface preparation is therefore also part of lighting quality. Adding the ceiling section and, if there is a curtain, the track layout to your quotation request speeds up model selection.

Frequently asked questions
Can a corner LED light a room on its own?
This depends on the luminous flux, the size of the room and the reflective properties of the surfaces. The decorative effect and the general light level you are aiming for should be assessed separately.
Does a curtain pelmet profile replace a curtain track?
Such a function must be confirmed in the technical details of the product. Choosing an LED profile does not by itself meet all the requirements of a curtain carrying system.
Why does the wall surface matter?
Light close to the surface can make unevenness in the plaster and differences in the paint visible. A sample light test is useful before the surface is finished.
