Stainless Steel Skirting: Plain and Cable Channel Models
A stainless steel skirting profile finishes the junction between wall and floor with a visible metal surface. The standard model and the cable channel model meet different needs. In making the choice, the flatness of the wall, the ends at doors and any cable route are taken into account as much as the height and the surface appearance.

With cable channel skirting, plan the decorative finish and the wiring requirement together.
Where is stainless steel skirting used?
It can be considered for creating a tidy line along the base of the wall in office, shop and residential interiors. The stainless steel surface can match other metal accessories. However, suitability for each environment is not determined by the name of the material alone; the steel grade and the cleaning conditions are examined separately.
The rear section of the profile relates to the wall and its bottom edge to the flooring. A curved wall or a changing floor level can create visible gaps. For this reason, the evenness of the surface is also checked when measuring up. The width of the front face of the profile should not be regarded as a repair solution that will cover every gap.
Distinguish the standard and cable channel models
The Stainless Steel Skirting Profile is considered for finishing the base of the wall. The Stainless Steel Skirting Profile with Cable Channel offers a void in its rear section for organising cables. The presence of this void does not mean that all cable types and wiring arrangements are suitable.
Cable diameter, number, bends and connection points are assessed together with the usable internal volume. The routing, separation and protection of power and data lines are resolved according to the relevant wiring requirements. A decorative profile should not be assumed to be a stand-alone electrical trunking that meets every technical condition.
Quick selection by need
| Need / criterion | Option to consider | Point to check |
|---|---|---|
| Finish at the base of the wall | Standard skirting | Height, wall and floor |
| Cable organisation | Cable channel model | Internal volume and wiring requirement |
| Corner turn | Solution compatible with the model | Appearance and cable bending |
| Maintenance need | Accessible placement | Removal method and furniture |
Corners and maintenance access
A cable run does not consist of a single straight wall. Internal and external corner turns, door openings and device connections are planned separately. Points where the cable would be pinched or bent more than necessary are identified in advance. If the profile needs to be removed, the maintenance method is considered together with the furniture layout.
With the standard model too, the appearance of the corner joint and the finish of open ends are important. Parts from different series are not accepted as compatible simply because they are the same height. At corners formed by cutting, the evenness of the visible surface and the sharp edges are checked.

Measuring up and preparing the order
Measure the wall sections separately, and set aside door openings and the sections where no profile will be fitted. Count the internal corners, external corners and open ends. For the cable channel model, add the route drawing to the list as well. The total metres and the corner and connection requirements should be prepared as separate pieces of information.
It is useful to assess the surface colour and gloss with an actual sample. The installation method is chosen according to the product detail and the wall construction. Next to wood flooring, the movement gap is not closed up tight; a cleaning method suited to the surface finish is used. For a quotation, share the model, the piece lengths, the environmental conditions and the cable layout, if any.

Frequently asked questions
Can a power cable be placed in every cable channel skirting?
The cable type, protection and routing requirements must be verified. The presence of a rear void does not in itself mean suitability for wiring.
Does a stainless steel surface scratch?
The visible surface can be damaged by mechanical impact. The handling, installation and cleaning method should be chosen to suit the surface finish.
How is the quantity calculated?
Each wall section is measured separately; door openings and areas where no profile will be fitted are deducted. Corners and open ends are counted separately.
