Stepped Z Profile

The stepped Z profile forms a stepped finishing line at the junction of plasterboard surfaces. Its perforated lower flange and stepped body bring the plasterboard edges together in a defined gap and level relationship.

Highlights

  • Stepped edge shape

    Unlike a flat finish, the plasterboard stepped Z profile forms a distinct step between the surfaces.

  • 10 mm horizontal step

    The horizontal step in the drawing determines the visible depth effect of the junction and the placement of the profile.

  • Perforated installation flange

    The openings in the lower flange help the profile to be applied together with the covering and surface finishing layers.

  • Two-way board relationship

    The section allows the upper and lower finishes to be arranged at the point where plasterboards meet at right angles.

Applications and model selection

The stepped plasterboard finishing profile can be chosen for ceiling perimeters and decorative board returns. When forming a suspended ceiling shadow gap detail, the direction of the step, the board thickness and the visible opening are assessed together.

Installation and Covering Compatibility

The junction line is marked in advance; the profile is aligned with the board and the substructure. Fixing in both directions is planned to suit the application detail. The visible step is preserved during the filling and painting stage; the profile geometry is not to be treated as a stair nosing.
