50 mm LED Channel Profile

The 50 mm Surface-Mount LED Channel Profile is a flangeless aluminium body used to create a wide band of light. The technical drawing of the Y6229 model shows an outer width of 49.4 mm and a height of 14.5 mm. The wide section allows the LED layout and the cover surface to be planned together.

Highlights

  • Wide LED strip profile

    It can be considered for designs that aim for a wider lighting band than a narrow decorative line. The amount of light is determined by the LED system, independently of the profile name.

  • 49.4 mm outer body

    The actual section reference in the drawing allows the installation space to be planned. The 50 mm in the model name and the technical dimension are shown separately.

  • 14.5 mm height

    The wide but low body creates a linear form on the surface. The usable inner volume is checked for the height of the strip and cables.

  • Linear lighting channel

    The LED position is assessed for a balanced appearance across the wide cover. The number of strips and the power are determined from the inner dimensions and the project requirement.

Applications and model selection

It can be used in wide display cases, display units, bespoke furniture lighting and prominent linear bands of light. Its contribution to general lighting is calculated from the luminous flux of the LED selected and the installation layout.

Installation and Model Compatibility

The body is fixed to an even surface with a suitable fixing. The LED layout is prepared according to the usable inner width. The cover and strip arrangement are tested together to check the light distribution across the wide surface. Cable connections are positioned so that they do not cast shadows on the light surface.

How is it installed?

  1. Measure and cut

    Mark the profile to the length required and cut it straight with a metal-cutting saw.

  2. Fit the LED strip

    Remove the backing tape from the strip and press it along the full length of the channel base to stick it down.

  3. Route the cable out

    Take the power cable out through the end of the profile or through a hole you have drilled.

  4. Fix the profile

    Fix the profile to the mounting surface with clips, screws or adhesive.

  5. Fit the cover

    Press the cover into the channel until it seats, then fit the end caps.

How is the cover fitted?

  1. Start from one end

    Insert one end of the cover into the channel at the end of the profile.

  2. Press along the full length

    Press the cover with your thumb to seat it in the channel along the profile.

  3. Fit the end caps

    Close both ends of the profile with the end caps.

Colour and finish options vary by product. For products with more than one option, the selection is made in the purchase area. For products with a single finish, the finish is stated under Product Specifications. For colours outside the standard options, you can submit a custom colour request with a RAL code.
